Throughout the year, the Hospice hosts a variety of events that bring our volunteers together and give us an opportunity to say "thank you". We host an annual Volunteer Barbecue and in December we gather to celebrate the the holidays. We regularly nominate our volunteers for both city and province-wide awards.
Here is a sampling of some of the volunteers who have won awards.

Jeanne Vlasics 2013 inductee
Jeanne has been a dedicated volunteer with DLH for 15 years. She has engaged in several aspects of our services providing support in-home to palliative individuals and their families, leading Tai Chi exercises for the Day Program, offering Therapeutic Touch, facilitating bereavement support groups and providing one-to-one support to bereaved individuals. In addition, she has served as a mentor to newer bereavement volunteers, either by participating on a panel during the facilitator training or in pairing up to co-facilitate with newly trained volunteers. Her delightful sense of humour, gregarious laugh, zest for serving others makes it a privilege to work with her.
